Machine overview

The swing stopper sorting and mound machine "BMM" sorts and separates the swing stoppers. The stoppers (supplied in cartons or bags) are emptied on to a conveyor belt and sorted by the drum. The stoppers fall on to a second conveyor, are picked-up by a robotic arm and loaded into the chain conveyor. Before being mounted by the swing stopper mounting machine the stoppers pass through a turning device.

Functional description

The stoppers are placed on the conveyor belt ready for loading. A quantity detection system monitors the number of stoppers in the drum and alters the feed rate accordingly. By rotating the drum, the stoppers fall piece by piece on to the second conveyor belt. A camera system detects the swing stoppers on the conveyor belt and sends the position to the handling system. The robotic arm picks single stoppers up and loads it into the chain conveyor. Misaligned or connected stoppers stay on the conveyor belt and are returned to the rotating drum for additional sorting. The chain conveyor transfers the stopper to the mounting machine. The orientation of the stoppers is checked by sensors and if necessary rotated in the turning device. Sensors on the conveyor detect the arrival of the bottles and automatically start the assembly process. The main star takes the bottle from the conveyor and puts it on the turntable. The turntable moves up and pushes the bottle against the locating pin. A tracer sensor moves to the rotating bottle. It turns on the bottle head until it finds the hole for the clasp. Now, the bottle is correctly oriented the stopper is automatically mounted to the bottle. The main star then gives the bottle back to the conveyor. The process components on the machine are modular. They are fixed to the system with clamping levers and can be interchanged to suit various bottle sizes. This facilitates quick and accurate replacement of process parts. In case of multiple bottle types, the clamping levers are clearly identified using a colour coordinated system to prevent incorrect mounting.

Noise protection enclosure

This swing stopper sorting and mounting machine is fitted by default with a transparent safety enclosure made of composite safety glass (CSG) in accordance with DIN 12543-2. Noise emissions are reduced as a result and the operator is isolated from the hazard zone. CSG is a laminate safety glass that does not shatter when broken. Reducing the risk of injury in the case of an accident.

Questions and Answers / Q & A:

Below you will find our answers to frequently asked questions:

What is the typical service life of AMS machines?

Our machines have a high safety and quality standard. The service life of an AMS machine depends on proper handling and compliance with the maintenance and lubrication intervals.

Our first swing stopper closing machine with no. 1 / built in 1995 has already changed hands for the fourth time and is still running without any problems.

How long are original spare parts for AMS machines available?

We try to have enough original spare and wear parts in stock for all new machine generations. However, we try to keep all AMS machines alive with suitable parts.

Are AMS machines built according to a hygiene concept?

We always value the best possible implementation of a hygiene concept on our machines. Systems that are located in the wet section of a filling system and from a machine size of BVM8 - 6000 have a rounded, electropolished table. With this we guarantee an immediate drainage of liquids. In addition, all of our plastic parts are made in natural white. This makes it easier to identify soiling or signs of use.

Which PLC is used in the AMS machines?

We have been relying on the Austrian PLC manufacturer B&R since 2009. We also purchase the servomotors, frequency converters and the safety technology from this manufacturer. Thus, the complete drive and safety technology comes from a single source.

Where can AMS machines of this type be viewed?

We are proud that our machines are in use all over the world. You are welcome to contact us regarding a visit to a type of system that has piqued your interest. We will find suitable references for you in our customer list and, if necessary, visit this machine with you.
